Algerian Boxer Imane Khelif Cleared to Fight In Paris Olympics

Cleared to Compete Again

Two athletes, including renowned Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, have been cleared to compete in the women's boxing at the Paris Olympics after being disqualified from last year's World Boxing Championships. Footage has emerged of Khelif, who will now be permitted to fight in Paris despite previously failing a gender verification test.

Disqualified Last Year

Khelif and Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting were both disqualified from the 2022 Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi after a medical examination raised doubts about their eligibility to compete as women. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has since confirmed that both athletes have been cleared to compete in the Paris Games.

Previous Participation

Khelif first participated in the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi in 2018, where she represented Algeria. She has since competed in several international boxing tournaments and has been a vocal advocate for gender equality in sports.
