Jokic, Murray Lead Denver's Comeback
The Denver Nuggets are moving on to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-102 in Game 4 on Saturday night. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray led the way for the Nuggets, combining for 52 points and 20 rebounds.
Jokic Receives MVP Award
Prior to the game, Jokic received the Michael Jordan NBA Most Valuable Player award from Commissioner Adam Silver. The Serbian center is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world and is known for his all-around game.
Nuggets Comeback from 3-1 Deficit
The Timberwolves had taken a commanding 3-1 lead in the series, but the Nuggets rallied back to win Game 5 in Minnesota and force a Game 6 in Denver. With their backs against the wall, the Nuggets played with great intensity and determination in Game 6.
Murray's Late-Game Heroics
Murray, who had struggled with injuries this season, was brilliant in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 of his 21 points in the final 10 minutes. His biggest shot came with just over a minute remaining, when he drained a three-pointer to give the Nuggets a five-point lead.
The Timberwolves had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Anthony Edwards' three-pointer bounced off the rim, sealing the victory for the Nuggets.
Nuggets Face Warriors in Round 2
Denver will now face the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs. The Warriors are the defending NBA champions and have not lost a playoff series since 2019.
