Dutch Eurovision contestant Joost Klein sensationally disqualified
Second Dutch artist axed for cheating in two decades
Klein caught receiving illegal backstage assistance
Dutch artist Joost Klein has been disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest after being caught receiving illegal backstage assistance, the contest's organizers have confirmed. Klein, 26, was set to represent the Netherlands with his song "Europa," but he has now been removed from the competition following an investigation by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Klein is the second Dutch artist to be disqualified from Eurovision in two decades. In 1999, Maxine and Franklin Brown were disqualified after it was discovered they had performed their song "Blijf Bij Mij" in public before the contest's deadline.
