Avalanche Avoid Elimination with Game 2 OT Win

Makar, Wood Lead Late Comeback

3-Goal Deficit Erased in Final Minutes

DALLAS -- Cale Makar scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Colorado Avalanche rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Dallas Stars 4-3 in Game 2 of their Western Conference Second Round series.

Miles Wood also scored in the final minutes of regulation to tie the game and force overtime. Nathan MacKinnon added an empty-net goal to seal the win for Colorado.

The Avalanche now trail the series 1-1 and will host Game 3 on Wednesday night.

The Stars dominated the first two periods, taking a 3-0 lead into the third period. Makar cut the deficit to 3-1 with a power-play goal early in the third period. Wood then tied the game with a goal from the slot with just over two minutes remaining.

In overtime, Makar completed the comeback with a wrist shot from the left circle. The goal came just over two minutes into the extra period.

The Avalanche's comeback was their largest in the playoffs since 2001, when they rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals.
